Planting Canola
Planting canola seed using generic recommendations of lbs of seed per
acre is not recommended due to variations in seeds per lb, field planting conditions, row widths/ equipment used
and yield potential of site.
Also note,
canola can be sensitive to previous crop herbicide programs.
Watch the presentation links for more helpful tips on planting canola.

Grass and Broadleaf Weed Control in Conventional Hybrids
Winter canola is an excellent winter rotational crop to clean
up grass infested wheat fields.
Registered
Group -1 herbicides such as Select, Assure II, and Poast can be used to effectively control
grass weeds on conventional non-GM winter canola.
Registered herbicides to control broadleaf weeds
include Group-3 Treflan and Group-4 Stinger. Always consult pesticide labels.
Ongoing broadleaf herbicide research funded by Rubisco Seeds has
identified additional broadleaf control options, availability subject to registration.
